My experiences in Hyannis have been a mixture of sheer delight (HI Hyannis, 111 Ocean Street, Spanky's Seafood etc) and of some of some dumbstruck awe! Which to say, I was at a large electronic and electrical retailers in the Cape Cod Mall at Iyannough. I bought what I thought was a Compact Flash card for my camera. When I realised that it was the wrong card, I was asked at the refund check-in for some ID - which I'd left at the hotel. So, I paid $8 for a taxi-ride back to Ocean Street (the camera card had cost about $52). Now, it was a Sunday and no bus - faced with another $16 for taxis - and all for a $52 refund - it made no sense to pay almost 50% of the refund price on transportation! It was a nice day, so I walked. 45 minutes later, I had my refund in hand. I thought a good few hours could be spent at the cinema, so I walked the length of the mall, and asked for a ticket to a space-age movie about monkies!!! Of course, I had my camera around my neck. "Sorry sir, you cannot take that camera in there!" It was a nice walk back. But just how can you plan for these things?!? Invidious, that was my word for the day! However, that has in no way reduced my liking for Hyannis - on the contrary. I shall be back, and probably many times as well.
